Canada

The Confederation of Canada was formed in 1867, the first national census was held in 1871 then repeated every ten years. Prior to 1867 census records were enumerated by the various provinces, territories and other political and geographical areas. The extracted census are arranged by the modern day provinces. Some judgement has been made to allocate places into their modern equivalents as boundaries were constantly being adjusted to meet the needs of governing a growing country
